About Randy Westlund

Randy Westlund is a Post Falls City Councilman dedicated to preserving Post Falls’ small-town values while preparing for responsible growth. Elected to City Council Seat 5 in 2023, he is currently serving his first term and has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, infrastructure improvement, and public safety.

Randy and his wife, Jacqueline, moved to Post Falls in 2018 after living in Boston for six years. Though he grew up in North Carolina, Jacqueline’s family has deep roots in the area. Together, they are raising their four children in Post Falls, committed to the community’s future.

With a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Randy is a self-employed software engineer and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience building custom software for small businesses. His background also includes working for NASA on satellite communication gear in Antarctica.

Beyond his role on the council, Randy is deeply involved in the community. He serves as a Precinct Committeeman for the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee and is a founding board member of Kootenai Strong.

Randy understands that growth is inevitable, but bad growth is not. He is committed to ensuring responsible development that prioritizes quality of life, supports local businesses, and strengthens public services without overburdening taxpayers. As mayor, he will fight to maintain local control, push back against out-of-touch state and federal policies, and protect the freedoms that make Post Falls special.

Randy Westlund is running for mayor to be a voice for the people, not special interests. His leadership will ensure Post Falls remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family for generations to come.

WHY I'M RUNNING

I believe in the promise of America as a land of opportunity, built on hard work, faith, and property ownership. Post Falls has the potential to capture that spirit, but it requires thoughtful leadership and strategic planning. We must not passively react to growth—we must shape it to reflect our priorities. Many families move to Idaho because it represents a future worth investing in. As Mayor, I will work to preserve and strengthen that future, ensuring Post Falls remains a safe, affordable, and thriving community.

THE ROLE OF MAYOR

The Mayor’s role is not merely ceremonial—it is a position of executive leadership with key responsibilities:

  • Setting a long-term vision for Post Falls that looks decades ahead, providing a structured plan for growth and development.
  • Building a strong leadership team by appointing qualified professionals to oversee city departments and commissions, ensuring effective governance and strategic decision-making.
  • Delivering results through efficient governance, working closely with residents, city staff, and stakeholders to implement policies that serve the community’s best interests.
